Sonship Theology Is Heresy
Simple belief is not a biblical concept at all. Belief in God is a matter of fact when it comes to biblical faith, but just believing in Jesus isn’t the gospel at all.
“No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3 [ESV]).
If you don’t repent before our king, your sins are not blotted out and forgotten.
You don’t become the righteousness of God without repenting first. There is a dangerous false gospel going around that we are made right in Christ, and because of that we are not accountable for our sins. Sins don’t even come into your mind, allegedly.
But this is utter deception.
Sin is something that must be dealt with, and any gospel that says you just magically get away free without repenting is false.
But the heart of all of this is that Christians don’t even know what sin is.
Sin is defined by breaking the Torah’s laws. Nothing added to them, and nothing less than them.
Making up sinful behaviors based on ridiculous notions that humans create is not sin. “I think this behavior is sinful, therefore it is” is not biblical.
I don’t care what you think about something. If it’s not written in the Torah, it can’t be a sin.
Not understanding what sin is leads to theology as negative as easy belief without repentance.
How do you spot false teachings?
It’s truly simple.
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20 [KJV]).
If a biblical teacher does not speak according to the Torah of Moses, he is a false teacher. That eliminates (and I know this statistic is saddening) 99% of all biblical teachers.
You can’t be the righteousness of God if you don’t even know what righteous means in the first place.
“You don’t understand. I don’t even think about sin because Jesus made me righteous.”
That statement is heretical on so many levels.
“Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as He is righteous” (1 John 3:7 [ESV]).
If you don’t follow the commandments of God, you are a liar and the truth is not in you at all. Only those who walk according to the walk He walked are righteous.
Your philosophy about how you don’t even think about sin means nothing if you don’t know what sin is or how to avoid it.
If you’re telling me you don’t sin because of Jesus’s sacrifice, yet you break the Sabbath because “Jesus is our rest now” you are going against what God considers righteous.
The Sabbath was made for man, but that doesn’t mean eliminating the Sabbath.
Humans don’t get to rescind the Law of God because Paul said something you’re misunderstanding.
“I’m so righteous sin means nothing to me.” That statement is appalling because you don’t even know what sinning is most times.
Love is required of us, but loving God is the first commandment in importance. That means placing a greater emphasis on what He wants for us. Keeping His word is something righteous people do, and lawless people do not keep the word of God.
Any time you hear a preacher say they don’t worry about sin or that they don’t understand why people repent, run the other way.
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8 [ESV]).
This eliminates “sonship” theology with a sweeping victory for what the Bible actually states.
Besides, if sin doesn’t matter, why does Jesus judge all mankind in the first place?
Makes zero sense.
Don’t be led astray by people who bear no fruit for the kingdom. Don’t follow easy belief without repentance either.
By their fruits you shall know them, and bearing fruit means keeping the Torah’s righteous laws.
Blessings and shalom to you.
