Some Thoughts on Current Events

This post will discuss multiple current events and the spirit of the people.

Something is shifting in this world. Everyone can feel it, even unbelievers.

This past week saw the assassination of Charlie Kirk, all for having a view and being willing to dialogue about opposing views.

It has been a heart-wrenching experience watching people tear each other up on both sides, but I’ve also seen glimmers of light and people on both sides realizing political violence isn’t the way.

You may not have agreed with him—but killing him was not the way to solve things. He was not a combatant; he was not hurting anyone, only trying to talk.

This recent American tragedy has brought out both the best and the worst in people.

I’ve seen Christians theorizing Israel must be behind it, because they swear there were hand signals being given and he had spoken out about Israel. I’ve seen those videos, and while he is critical of Israeli stand-down orders during the October 2023 Feast of Tabernacles, he wasn’t saying it was intentional.

From what I understand, far more resources were being diverted over to Judea and Samaria (the proper biblical names for what secular people call the West Bank). This led to the October 7th, 2023, massacre finding success, due to diverted military resources.

Hamas said the reason they invaded Israel was to prevent the red heifer sacrifice, calling it a “detestable religious myth”. They named it Al-Aqsa Flood to prevent this from happening.

Well, they failed. The red heifer has been sacrificed, and while the Hebraic authorities are saying it was a test run, it is against the Torah to do a test run. That would offer “profane fire” before the LORD. It had to be the real thing, with multiple people saying it was the genuine sacrifice. The Hebraic authorities are having some disagreements due to the false Oral Torah, while normal Torah-following Jews are calling it good to go because the Oral Torah is made-up rules created by men.

We certainly live in interesting times. Using these ashes, the next Temple can finally be constructed.

Things seem to line up for the events of the last days before the return of the Messiah. I can’t set a date in stone, but something in the world has shifted.

All that being said, I was harassed last night by people close to me for defending Israel’s actions in Gaza, and the words “Hitler should have killed them all and I hate all ‘those people’” came out.

To say I was appalled doesn’t do my feelings justice. This is the type of evil springing up in the days in which we live.

Now is the time to remain bold in faith and not waver or compromise.

There is a spiritual war going on every day, and things will only get worse as the days pass.

If you didn’t like Charlie Kirk, you have every right not to have liked him. But thinking an assassination is a good thing when he wasn’t a drug kingpin or a terrorist is sick.

You don’t have to like Israel or all its actions, but when you sympathize with terrorists and proclaim that Hitler should have finished the job, may God have mercy on your life and may you take full responsibility for your views knowing God will bring every deed into judgment, whether good or evil (Ecclesiastes 12:14).

I don’t usually get too political, but staying silent on these two issues with all that’s happening in the world isn’t the right way to go (for me, at least).

Siding with assassins and terrorists isn’t righteous.

I despair over the trouble Hamas has brought upon Gaza, because it didn’t have to happen. The blood of those innocent people is on Hamas and its refusal to surrender.

War is a terrible thing, but it is sometimes necessary to prevent further evil. We have our freedoms today because of powerful warriors who refused to capitulate to evil.

Politics is divisive, but we can sort things out without literally killing each other in the civilian arena.

Strong feelings about these issues are normal. It shows us we are human.

But the way forward is not to favor conspiratorial theories (the man in the videos in white is Frank Turek, who preaches the gospel, not a trained assassin).

The way forward is not to kill our opponents when we disagree with them.

The way forward is not letting terrorists get rewarded and voting in something that will make the God of Israel increasingly furious (two-state solution versus Joel 3 and God’s anger at dividing the land of Israel).

To move forward, we must be bold and not shirk our duty to call out evil for what it is.

This may sound harsh, but freedom is not won by wickedness; it is won by righteous men and women standing up for truth, even at the cost of their lives.

May the Father bless you and all you put your hands to.

Shalom.
