Realign Your Heart and God Does the Rest
There are many times in our lives when we strive to do the right thing, but perhaps our heart is not aligned with where it should be.
What is your heart’s posture as you walk this life with the Father of Lights?
Do you do things out of self-seeking motivation?
Or do you submit your will to His will, knowing that God knows best for our lives?
There’s nothing at all wrong with wanting certain things or outcomes.
Having those desires may come from Yahweh Himself.
But is there something you’re holding on so tightly to, something that would improve your life if you let it go?
It’s all right to have dreams and aspirations.
It’s a positive thing to want a relationship that honors both your values and the Almighty.
If you want to be loved by others who share your same values, then that’s not a dishonorable desire.
But we must always ask ourselves—what is our heart’s alignment with those things that are most important?
The most important thing in a believer’s life is their relationship with God.
That’s priority number one.
If you’ve misdirected the order of the values you hold, disaster will follow.
God first, then everything else.
After God comes your family, specifically spouse and children, if you’re married.
If you’re single, you have a perfect position in your life to please the LORD in all you do before committing to something. As Paul’s letters inform us, it is easier to focus on the tasks the LORD would have you do if you’re single. Not that being married or in a relationship with someone is a terrible thing when you walk with the Messiah.
It’s all about having the right alignment and order to your values.
I’ve been guilty of this myself, holding value in things before other things. Making things an idol instead of understanding God is in control of every different area of my life.
If you delight yourself in Yahweh, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37).
Notice delighting in Yahweh is tied to the desires of your heart.
While God is not a cosmic Walmart, He will answer your prayers and give you the things you want if your ways are pleasing to Him.
And if He’s made you a promise, He doesn’t lie.
It may not happen in the time you want it to happen, but it will happen regardless, because our God is not a God who lies.
Having the proper heart alignment means you’re fine with leaving the timeline up to Him.
God is never late. He’s right on time.
Cherish the blessings God has already blessed you with, and you won’t want for those things which are further down the road.
Maybe your career growth has stagnated, and you’ve made progress as an idol.
Perhaps you didn’t get married by 35, and you feel you’ve missed your shot.
You’ve maybe gotten stuck in a bad situation and don’t see how to get out of it.
Whatever it may be, God’s wish for you is to realign your heart to do things in the right order, to have gratitude for the right things.
Heart posture is of the highest importance when walking with God. The world does things their way, and we are to do things His way.
Don’t make things an idol.
It’s okay to want those things which will come to pass in your life right on schedule.
The first thing we must do as believers is trust in God with all our heart (Proverbs 3) and lean not on our own understanding.
We may not always understand why things are the way they are, or why things must be done in a certain order, but our King is omniscient and knows all the details we might not pick up on.
Realign your heart and focus on the heavenly things.
Do that, and the rest will be added to you.
