Impossible Things

Working on yourself can make people uncomfortable sometimes due to how traditional society views impossibility and possibilities.

But you shouldn’t shrink the vision you have for your life for anyone, or even think of seeking approval from someone who doesn’t see the vision.

Make life happen on your own terms, and watch the fire of life fly into the sky like fireworks for you.

The well-traveled road isn’t as interesting as the shaded trees off to the side of it that lead to an ethereal grotto of awe and wonder.

Some people think certain things are impossible.

But, like the old novel says:

I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

It isn’t even impossible if you don’t dare to do anything, because the possibility remains that you might do something. So, excuses go out the window, I say.

I’m now a firm believer in having no promises to keep when it comes to releasing novels (though my recent works from the past year will release at the end of next month and there’s no delay to be had there, despite my release pushbacks). Of course, I’m talking about on-time releases for a specific day.

This writer has found it is best to release out of nowhere in most cases so you don’t break any promises from an arbitrary street date. I feel genuinely awful as an author when I don’t make a deadline, so most of them are now dead. My next three novels will have their set dates as a type of penance for self-gratification. It’s my way of making it up to myself.

But the reason I brought up that subject is that even though I missed some dates, the resulting work was not impossible, and I have done it to the best of my ability.

There truly is no room for excuses on goals. If life has to be uncomfortable to achieve them, then do that.

Life happens, and then there’s coffee. You know?

Another reason I’m tackling this subject is that I have some people (whom, [ooh, formal] I won’t name) who seem upset that I’m growing even further.
But I’ve said many times on here, just because something is impossible for you doesn’t mean it is impossible for me. Meaning, it isn’t even impossible for them, since they technically can achieve what they desire with as much tenacity as they put into it.

Here are some random examples I thought of in the moment:

“I’ll be a landscaper forever. I have too much ADHD to improve things.”

“My mind doesn’t work like that. I could never do [blank].”

“Making that much money is out of reach for me because I don’t feel I’m worth that.”

“My spiritual walk is stunted because I constantly sin all the time.”

Those should be translated to something like this:

“I won’t be a landscaper forever. I will get help and medication and make a new path for myself by working on my skills or going back to school.”

“My mind is unique, and because it works the way it does, that leads to opportunities most other people miss.”

“Money is like air. It is everywhere as long as I provide the right value.”

“God loved me as a sinner first, so I can make amends and walk in the commandments.”

There is always a way out, and being a victim is not the way of anyone who wants to help others shine their light.

Whatever the excuse is, I’m not saying that people don’t have actual problems, and that it isn’t all right to feel those things. You’re going to feel what you feel, and you might not be able to stop it.

But you’ve got to believe in the impossible. We serve a God who is a master of the impossible.

Slaves don’t make it to second-in-command of all Egypt. Yet it happened. Joseph’s story is my favorite in the entire Bible.

Things can be hard.

If you want to make it as a musician, you’ll have to work on it even after the day job to ensure you stay afloat, and that might mean long nights and a bit of divine intervention.

Making it as a writer (at least in fiction) means facing rejection all the time. Writing late into the night is common, and for some of us, there are few other things that capture that joy in the span of the moments our fingers hit the keys and we hear that lovely clacking sound.

If you’re in a long-distance relationship, the expenses and time apart are worth it if you want to make something happen with that person for the long haul. It might seem difficult or impossible on paper, but if you want to make something work, you’ll do it and not take the time others have for granted.

Cooking at a high-caliber level where Gordon Ramsay wouldn’t call you an idiot would take an immense amount of practice, and learning the intricacies of seasoning things just right. Besides, even if you made it to the level that he’d pay you attention, that’d be an achievement in and of itself.

I don’t believe in the impossible. My beliefs are that God is the master of all things that can’t be done, or the many things people think can’t happen.

Get out of your head and stop thinking things are too hard. The things that are the hardest in this life are the things worth doing in the first place.

I don’t know about impossible anymore. Obviously, there are no triangular circles. But we don’t live in a world where such a thing would matter.

Do we?

Tell yourself it is possible and watch the results stack up over time.

Blessings and shalom!
