A Little Bit of Value in Thy Life

This post is meant for the Feast of Trumpets 2026.

I want to talk about what it means to truly find value in the One who sees your worth. We should never find our value and self-worth in anything other than the King of Kings. People in your life (or even outside of it) may not always understand your worth, value, or what you offer.

If they do see something, it may be for the wrong motives, and I’m not a fan of that in the slightest.

But there is Yahweh, who created you to be far more than when you start out in your walk. Through many years of refinement in the furnace of trials, missteps (we all make those, and let’s not kid ourselves that we don’t make mistakes), and walking in true faith, we find the person we are meant to become. What is the measure of a man or woman apart from their value to the being who gave them their life to begin with?

We should esteem others above ourselves at all times, since we know we have self-worth and worth in the kingdom of God, needing no external validation.

This is a day of resurrection and new life, so let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can emulate that for others.

Because the start of the Jewish New Year is the Feast of Trumpets, I’d like to go over something better than resolving to do better for the next year.

And that is truly simple. It is doing better for the rest of our lives by giving others their own minor form of resurrection.

Okay. Maybe it isn’t quite that simple if we don’t have a compass to point us in the right direction.

But think about those goals you have to become a person who understands that self-seeking is not the way of the Father of Lights (one of my favorite titles for God). How can we better serve others in the spirit of the Messiah, who showed us the true finality of death to give us an example? In other words—if you don’t get what I did there—death had no finality in His life, since He had power to take it up again from the depths of the abyss.

Because Christ has risen from the dead, we are given new life forevermore when He comes in His kingdom.

To emulate this in the new year, we should help others learn to rise from their own metaphorical death.

There is no need to be a perpetual victim caught in a cycle of defeat, and we should bear the burdens of others, so that we are walking in deeds and not just talk.

If a brother or sister in Christ has a heavy load, it’s fine to be like Simon (the one who helped Christ bear the cross) and help them understand they can get through whatever it may be.

It can be as little as giving a word of encouragement or as large as helping them to work toward their desires by spending some of your own time to help them rise higher.

If a friend of yours has gone through a terrible divorce or breakup, then console them that this is not the end of their story—that it might truly be just beginning. God Himself is a divorcee to the lost ten tribes of Israel, and yet He used that as a springboard to engineer the path to humanity’s ultimate salvation. The theology behind this is beyond the scope of this post, but my point is that even something as devastating as a divorce is not the end of your journey.

What about the pain of losing someone to the curse of death? This is especially hurtful, losing people you’ve spent your whole life with, to never see the light in their eyes again and never hear them speak another word from their mouths. No more positive laughs, and an empty frame of reference in the ghost of presence. If a Christian has lost their parents, they are well-equipped to help another person deal with their own grief if one of them passes. But the most important detail to help them through is that they will see their loved ones again in the age to come. Jesus will resurrect everyone, and we will see them again.

How about a believer who has lost their job through circumstances that they couldn’t control? Maybe you’ve got an opening that would be perfect for them (as I believe in divine providence in our lives), and you can solve that problem for them. Or you might have a contract to offer for a bit while they look for something to get back on their feet. There’s nothing wrong with helping someone up, after all.

This upcoming year, I want to value others far more than I ever have in my past decades as a Christian. To bear another person’s burden is to do what Christ did for a sinful and rebellious humanity in a small, little simulacrum of the greatest gift we’ve ever received.

In valuing others greater than the average experience in secular life, we will help others feel valued and not tie our worth to self-seeking validation. In validating the experiences and lives of others, we show the world the light within us to the extent that we won’t worry about people not understanding our worth.

“Hey, I know what not being valued feels like. Let me help you understand that you have worth in my eyes and in the eyes of the Creator.”

Jesus understood the experiences of our daily lives, as He was essentially just like us (without a hint of sin, though). When others don’t see you, and don’t notice you for the correct reasons, He always does.

We should take the next year as a year of opportunity to help others find value and escape toxic cycles of victimhood wherever we can.
I’m a believer who understands that our full potential is something we can reach when we shed limiting beliefs and escape the ashes of former things. Things don’t work out as you had hoped because they’re supposed to work in grander ways than the way you thought you’d go.

So let us enter the next year and understand God’s power of resurrection is something we can taste just a hint of by offering others relief from their own distresses.

Let us be workers of the good works He longs for us to do, and not be hearers of the Word of God only.

Not that listening is a negative thing, mind you.

Giving others a push in value through our actions will be of its own virtuous, vital value.

Blessings, shalom, and may good works follow you into the next stretch of days.

I’m going to evaluate my next year around the fall Feasts of Yahweh 2027 and see where I ended up!
