Things Got Delayed (For a Good Reason)
It is now 12:50 AM MST on September 27th, 2026, and I have been combing over my manuscripts for Crown of the Orphic Queen and The Man Who Paints Fire. I’m not in the mood to sleep tonight, and I’ve been pouring over the story of Seph and Hadrian for so long.
And I must say transparently that it needs to be delayed a little. I don’t feel quite right about this novel (or its sister) being the best it can be, even after what I’ve done to it. I might just be waiting for the right time to release it, and I don’t know if that time is now.
I don’t believe in making excuses, so I must say with full transparency that this book is not quite ready yet.
The feeling I have for this book is positive, to be sure, but I want the entire thing to sing with power and verse.
This is the type of novel where I think it could lead me somewhere truly awesome and change my artistic life in some way, so I don’t want to mess that up.
That’s how much I believe in this story.
The truth is, I write between 7,000 and 10,000 words a day, and I take a few hours to do so. But not all of those words are fiction, and not all of them are the best they can be.
But when a novel is written out in its initial conception, I will go over it for months on end to make the prose into something I can be proud of.
While I don’t believe in taking ten years to release this, I want the best possible product to come out at the end.
This set of novels is such that I want to do this right. I have been working so hard on everything that I’ve wanted to collapse sometimes with how much I put into it (my poor behind, too).
I will aim to release these novels at the end of October, on the date I chose for The Man Who Paints Fire.
The intensity with which I pen these tales is not something I take for granted, and I want the best possible product for those who are interested.
I’ve delayed this novel for over a year now, but it’s my first foray into sub-story fragments and poetry and verse marvelously taking over the story.
From a religious standpoint, I feel God doesn’t want me to release this just yet. I know that sounds “woo-woo” to some people, but that’s what I feel from the Holy Spirit.
I don’t believe the book is ready yet, and I want to make sure I get it out right.
That’s as frank as I can be.
Things get delayed sometimes, and there’s not much we can do about it.
A proper novel needs the right amount of effort, and if I’m true to myself, that hasn’t happened here yet.
Once things are ready and stable, I will get this pair of books out.
I honestly believe I have what it takes to shun professional writing work to sustain artistic writing alone.
While I don’t believe I’m the best writer in the world, I have confidence in my abilities.
These stories are special to me, and I want them to do something in the world of romance literature.
Without getting too personal, there are many things going on in my life right now that make giving this the attention in the final polish difficult.
I’ve heard it jokingly said people are taking a break from mental health to work on their craft, but what I have to do here is create something for the ages. That sort of drive inspires me.
Please wait longer, and I promise the delay will make a tale for the eons.
A work referencing Orpheus himself needs the musicality on every page to make it live up to the legend, and the ancient tale must be lived up to for such a story that permeates through the ages.
Happy writing!
