Intertwining Threads of the Self and Others
Have you ever thought about how multiple threads make a grand design?
A rug has many fibers that turn it into something functional.
A city has many winding roads that turn it into a nexus of direction and create something grander than one street alone.
You might keep multiple income streams—a steady paycheck plus entrepreneurial work, and contracts that don’t renew. You might have fifty investments or seven.
Having a variety of different threads turns things into something that functions.
Writing novels is the same for me as an artist. By the end of 2026, I’ll have over ten novels out in the world. Some will be shadow drops, and others will be announced prior to the date.
While I don’t believe in being petty about anything, I came to suspect a review I had received earlier this year of my debut novel from another author as being done out of spite of some sort, but that review is one of multiple novels I have. There are people who read amazing authors who enjoyed Auminous, so one opinion doesn’t affect me too badly because I have many threads. If someone enjoys Maas and also enjoys my novel, I’m happy. I admit I’ve rewritten Numinous: The Golden Tunists to satisfy my artistic vision, which I felt was lower caliber before, and for those specific people who liked it. Thank you for believing in me. It means so much that you do.
But because I write many novels, this doesn’t spell the kiss of death for my prospects as an author.
Then there is the Orchestrylus Odyssey series that I love so much. I honestly believe I have something special here with Stanzielle’s story and the poetic metaphor combat mechanics of that world of music. Only God can increase me, but I truly wouldn’t mind rewriting it a bit for a traditional house if it meant that story got out there to more people.
The more books an author writes, the more threads to create something grand in design.
Thinking of my future as an author as a retail store with many options is the best way to go about it. You don’t open a store with one item; you open it with many options.
I have yet another story coming out in 2026 called The Ethereal Winter that I believe is also a special story, which is close to my heart. It is about snow angels literally. An angelic incursion happens during the winter in a small Colorado town and changes the lives of the residents there, who have just gone through a traumatic event.
It’s a story where I say to it, “I’m not in love with you, but I’d sure like to fall in love with you.” These stories can be tricky, and while I like them very much, love is built over time. Sometimes it’s a headache. Other times it’s a breeze.
But writing books is a slow burn, you know. Angels need to be portrayed in the right way.
I’m a man who believes in angels, and in their care and direction. I have at least one angel, and I know he or she guides me as much as God does to my highest good. Maybe I have more than one.
In a place where everybody knows everybody, you wouldn’t think of redemption being needed, but events happen that force heaven to come down during a snowstorm for the ages.
I want to love the story in such a way that it touches the lives of others. So, I’m going to be writing it carefully and revealing the cover this week.
It’s another thread to add to the grand narrative of my author career.
I’ve learned so much over the course of the last four years. I learned to spot AI art and stay away from it. I once made the mistake of not realizing the art was AI and mistakenly ended up using it back in 2023, and while I believe AI has some uses, the arts are not one of them.
The artists who make art for us creatives also have many threads to their form of work, so it is only right and respectful that we pay it back to them by using legitimate forms of art.
If someone wants to mess around with it for concept art or something, have at it. But don’t use AI in a final product or to write.
Use the many threads you have within you to help bring other threads from others to help perpetuate the cycle of the artistic areas of life.
My philosophy is that artists should support one another, and it’s not a competition.
I buy books from many authors and want to support them all.
I listen to many musicians and want to support them all.
Some people have creators they like to recommend or push above others. There is a term for this in another language even, but there is room for all of them.
The intertwining threads of artists all hold up each art form, not above others, but to have them all in tandem.
See?
It can be complex or simple, but let’s keep making our art. We all help each other grow and expand our own skills at the same time.
Just something to think about.
