Build Your Lore Documents Over Time

Having a series of documents to refer to while building a massive world the size of Orchestrylus (where each sphere is the size of Earth) is of the utmost importance.

Here is an example of an early piece of my lore documents, but this does not have every single faction or entity listed, as some of these are merely sects of the political world of Orchestrylus, regardless of spheres, and others are only in certain spheres.

Orchestrylus is both low-tech and high-tech simultaneously, meaning they live in harmony with the surrounding natural world and have access to technology in a limited scope, except for the sphere of Hadynus, which is right under Musika Eyn Soph. The closer one travels to Musika Eyn Soph, the higher the blessings of the Conductor upon that sphere, not that Liszt isn’t under his watchful eye and blessed.

The reason Liszt is the bottom sphere and Stanzielle begins on Liszt is due to the world-building-as-I-go possibility I chose for the series. She hasn’t left her home country, much less the rest of the spheres. This makes a beautiful storytelling device in having the world explained and experienced by both Stanzielle and the reader.

Character sheets are a little denser than these, as I wanted to leave the possibility of discovering some of these plot points with each of these factions, though not all of them are listed here.

It can be as simple as a term with a brief definition, and then the writer is free to dabble in figuring things out as they go, or they can be as dense as an encyclopedia.

This one is stripped down a bit to not give too much away.

It’s all about building things up over time, and getting there doesn’t have to be a headache.

The Nine Golden Masks - The highest caste of symphonists in Orchestrylus under the direction of the Euphonious Phoenixes.

The Euphonious Phoenixes – Sentient, fiery-gem birds that rule the spheres as some of the most ancient beings in Orchestrylus. They are massive, with some stretching many measures in wingspan. Each one rules over one or more musical keys.

Viva Ce` (Lives on Musika Eyn Soph)

The Seventeen Nocturnes – A group of assassins that works during the aurora storms on Liszt and Mozartide.

The Last Movement – A religious end-times cult that sets about to begin the Coda without Eyn Soph’s involvement.

Regalia Iromata – A royal society based in Treblesong with elite symphonists who have killed one hundred Negasongs.

Giants of the Bloom – A race of humongous adamythus with harmonic teeth that built some of the wonders of the spheres.

The Twelve Vivace Vagrants – A moving troupe of circus musicians that are said to be the fastest instrumentalists in the entire array.

Chochmah – One of the emanations of the Conductor who guards the Cabochon Belt near the start of the Kaleidoscopic Band.

Binah – One of the emanations of the Conductor who guards the Cabochon Belt near the middle of the Kaleidoscopic Band.

Daat – An emanation of the Conductor who guards the end of the Kaleidoscopic Band nearest Zaph and Rubinus.

The Lady of the Gospelswifts – A healer who lives on Verdisti who spreads the Sheet’s teachings without the Ensemble’s authority. This makes them angry and her an enemy of the state.

Secret Brotherhood of Zaph – A cult that treats the spiralix of Zaph as a living entity. Loyal to Diminished Seventh, and it is said they are among the Ensemble on Liszt and Bachint.

The Secret Path of Yesod – A select few symphonists who seek enlightenment through understanding the symphonic streams.

The Guild of Seven Scepters – There are seven lodges of this brotherhood and sisterhood across each sphere. No one knows about the last guild lodge on Musika Eyn Soph, on the right-wing protrusion of the final sphere. This is a secret society with ties to a relic of each sphere and connections with choral frames.

Symphonist Crown Foundation – As a symphonist rises through the ranks, they are awarded crowns the size of tunes, with a full set meaning one is experienced to the utmost. To get all 23 crowns is the mark of someone on the level of the Nine Golden Masks and scant few have done so.

On top of this, if you build the world as an in-universe glossary and make it real history, you can add these things to the novels as dressing for understanding the world.

Perhaps you might have a school lesson with these terms being thrown about, or an in-universe copy of a test that a student is taking.

Just something to think about.
